I hate public transport. Call me a snob, but I drive or cab everywhere. But the public transport in Amsterdam is top class. Trains, busses, trams and the metro all connected and linked together. Wollaton Hall is an underrated piece of British heritage. Recently used in The Dark Knight Rises as Wayne Manor, it’s a beautiful piece of architecture that sits in equally as beautiful park. I think it’s unappreciated by the people living in Nottingham. USA, New York. 2011. So instead of going to the top of the Empire State which so many people do, we decided to go to the top of the Rock, (Rockefeller Center). This way we could get a view of the Empire State from where we were. But the Rock in itself was huge. It dwarfed you and you felt like nothing in comparison. And it doesn’t stop there… When you get to the top there’s a whole lot more.

USA, New York. 2011.
Our tour guide then took us to Grand Central Station Terminal. Most tourists know it as a station, but as we were told, and as the door says, it’s actually a terminal. I think this is because services start and end here. This isn’t a stop, but the actual destination.
The next photo is of the beautiful ceiling in the terminal. I’ve completely forgot the story behind it, but it looks lovely anyway.
And finally, the old man shaking my teachers hand. The old man was asking us if one of the girls on the trip was Mary Poppins, and our teacher told him that she was and explained that he was her father. Best moment to watch.

Italy, Florence. 2010.
In front of the Baptistry is another building equally as beautiful. It had the most amazing amount of fine detail on it, and the scale of it was huge. Can you imagine? 1000 years ago, this was entirely hand built, to perfection? It’s mind boggling. Yet so beautiful.
