The gardens at Alton Towers were really nice, even though we did get lost and couldn’t find the way out. #sun #sky #trees #flowers #alton #towers #architecture #building #nature (at Alton Towers) View high resolution

I think there would have originally been some sort of window or glass there, but it still looks amazing. #uk #park #photography #architecture #building #nottingham #sky #old #england #nottingham #newstead #abbey (Taken with Instagram at Newstead Abbey) View high resolution

This was the entrance to actual cafe/tea room. But we were sat outside because in England you never let a sunny day pass by! #tea #cafe #building #architecture #summer #sunny #plants #nottingham #uk #england (Taken with Instagram) View high resolution

USA, New York. 2011.

And so we made it. To the top of the Rock. And as I reached the top of the escalator I was greeted with this view. It blew my mind. I couldn’t comprehend what I was looking at, and where I was. I was in NYC, on top of the Rockefeller looking down on the whole of Manhattan. It was a dream come true, and I can hand on heart say, it was the specific moment in time, I fell in love with New York. I decided there and then, for some part of my life, I’ll return and actually live in New York for a bit.

So instead of going to the top of the Empire State which so many people do, we decided to go to the top of the Rock, (Rockefeller Center). This way we could get a view of the Empire State from where we were. But the Rock in itself was huge. It dwarfed you and you felt like nothing in comparison. And it doesn’t stop there… When you get to the top there’s a whole lot more.

I think this was one of those moments, where I was just full of mixed emotions. The Dakota hotel. It was home to John Lennon, and this is where he was shot. I was at a place, where history was made. Humbled, I took a few photos, only imagining what December 8th, was like. How horrible that day was, when we lost a man full of nothing but love.

Our tour guide then took us to Grand Central Station Terminal. Most tourists know it as a station, but as we were told, and as the door says, it’s actually a terminal. I think this is because services start and end here. This isn’t a stop, but the actual destination.

The next photo is of the beautiful ceiling in the terminal. I’ve completely forgot the story behind it, but it looks lovely anyway.

And finally, the old man shaking my teachers hand. The old man was asking us if one of the girls on the trip was Mary Poppins, and our teacher told him that she was and explained that he was her father. Best moment to watch.

Need I say anything for this photo? It was my first glimpse of the Empire State building. I think the word I’m looking for is “Speachless.” Just seeing what can only be described as the ultimate symbol for New York, was amazing. Standing in it’s presence, I was once again just reminded of where I was, and what was surrounding me. View high resolution
